Back At It

I actually took the bus out of Tehachapi back to the trail. After 27 hours of not hiking, it was time to get back.

The full sized public bus which connects Tehachapi to the neighboring city Mojave was packed with hikers. Every seat was taken. Twenty minutes with my pack on my lap was about all I could handle.

Walking again until 10 pm tonight, I’m trying to avoid the heat while I can. My new desert routine is throwing off my writing a bit.

At some point in need to tell you all about the fire that started yesterday, closing a portion of the trail 80 miles to the north. I also need to dedicate one of the many beers I drank last night in Tehachapi, which were necessary to make that Cavs game interesting.

PCT Mile 575.5

(This lovely couple was just walking by as I was taking pictures of the sunset. I don’t know them, but who doesn’t like to pose for a good picture? They’re thru-hikers so maybe we’ll cross paths again.)
