Doesn’t Remind Me of Anything

Red lights on the center of wind turbines in the night.

Headphones in, the crowd erupts; a spontaneous fútbol chant breaks out:

“Olé, Olé, Olé, Olé… Olé.. Olé..”

Just in time for the headwind I’m facing, the live version of AC\DC’s, “Thunderstruck” goes full throttle.

I’m walking uphill, just after sunset. The desert heat of the day is starting to yield. I lean into the wind like a car door that isn’t quite shut. The lamp on my head, facing the ground, glows red like the brake lights on that very same car.

I start laughing. “Where the fuck am I?”

This doesn’t remind me of anything.

This is great.

Sunset in the desert.
A shooting star above the light pollution from a couple small towns 15 miles away.
A black and white sunset.
A waxing crescent moon.
