The walk from the car rental place at the Bemidji airport to my kayak was about 5 miles. I tried to schedule a taxi the day before and the day of but the only place in town wouldn’t answer.
Understandably this airport doesn’t see a lot of activity. It takes one flight a day during the week from Minneapolis which is a few hour drive to the south.
By the time I got back on the river and a couple miles downstream, more thunderstorms rolled in and I’d spend the rest of the day under a bridge.

I’m very fortunate for the good walking weather and I’d happily trade that for a river shortened day.

I was also fortunate to not be sharing this bridge with any locals…

Week 1 is now complete with just 53 miles behind me and many more to go. I’m grateful to be here and have the opportunity to keep going.
