How to Wrap an Extension Cord (The Best Way)

In this video I’ll show you the best way to wrap an extension cord. Using this method you can transform a tangled extension cord that you have in your house right now into an extension cord that unravels to a custom length and wraps back up with ease.

You’ll need to purchase a cheap plastic extension cord reel with stand. The one I purchased from Home Depot cost $11.

As I demonstrate in the video, an out of the box extension reel is critically flawed. You’ll need to make a simple modification to the reel in order to wrap an extension cord the best way.

Using a 1-1/2″ cut out drill bit I cut out a hole large enough to fit the male end of the extension cord through the center of the reel.

By position the female end of the cord at the outside center of the reel you can plug in the cord and move the reel as needed to make the cord the perfect length every time. The end result is an extension cord you can use again and again, roll up and store with ease.
